Port 443 for HTTPS, SSH, and SSH-over-SSL, and more!

I already had port 443 of my domain (let’s call it example.net) multiplexed, following the instructions to get both SSH and HTTPS on port 443.

In this article, I explain how I added SSH-over-SSL (TLS actually) to the same port, which is useful when you have to pass a firewall, that actually checks that the destination port (443) is indeed used for SSL and not for something else.

Transparent HTTP and DNS proxy through a corporate proxy

When you plug your computer on an intranet that is behind a web proxy and only provides name resolution for intranet domains, some commands may become unusable because name resolution fails for regular internet domains. Besides, although Firefox does handle a SOCKS proxy (provided by SSH) very well, it may not be the case of all programs: wget and elinks do not, for example.

These issues, and more, are partly solved if you can run a transparent proxy. I will describe one such setup.
